The Ross children have come back to Saskatchewan. It is now our challenge to do right by them The eight year old girl that Sgt. Dueck allowed to be viciously sexually assaulted for more than a year after he knew it was going on has a major winnable lawsuit. Problem is, she was, until recently, a ward of the government of Saskatchewan who know very well that if Kathy ever gets out from their clutches, she just might find her way to someone who will help her seek justice for what they have done to her. Greg Walen (who in 2000 received the honor of Queen's counsel) was acting as her "counsel" while also acting as counsel for Social Services and Sgt. Dueck! For a time, she was receiving "therapy" from Carol Bunko-Ruys, the same therapist who helped Sgt. Dueck use Kathy to manufacture his case! If anybody knows this girl, she and her twin sister Michelle both have lawsuits. Michael has a lawsuit, too, because the Dueck/Bunko-Ruys/Walen/Gagne/Quinney/Mitchell team gave him a licence to rape, sodomize and torture! If he proceeds on the path they set him on, there will be many more victims and Michael will be able to argue that he is a state-sponsored sexual psychopath! Michael, we hope it is not too late before you realize that you have to get out of the system which is shuttling you back and forth from court to jail to programs on the street to court to jail and back. You will never please these people because it is their job to keep you in the system. You and you alone know the truth of what happened to you before Sgt. Dueck took you to McDonald's on the way to the softroom (which is really a "brainsoftening" room!) They have told you that the damage was done before they met you. We are telling you that what they did to you afterwards has been every bit as damaging! They don't want you to figure this out. Update: Since the above was written, all three Ross siblings (now young adults) found each other through injusticebusters' website and they have all publicly apologized to the Klassens and Kvellos on national television. They know that they are entitled to compensation and support. Their are cynical among us who suggest they are greedy and not to be believed. We have expressed elsewhere on this site our admiration for them. They have a sense of decency that is more highly developed than many people we have encountered in this case who have degrees, jobs and even credentials that suggest they might have some savvy about how things work.
This B.C. case is a precedent. Emma McCarthy will have a major lawsuit when she is finally returned to her parents in Cape Breton, and returned to her parents she certainly will be! This may indeed turn out to be one of the mechanisms by which wealth is re-distributed! Among the glut of lawyers there may be a few who are prepared to justify their existences and give something back by taking these cases pro bono. We should remember that most species alive on this planet take care of their offspring. What have we become that parents who love and care for their children can have those children deprived of that love and caring by so called "institutions.?" "Institutions" are created by people. We made them. We can unmake them! Let the excuse that "we were only following orders" or "procedures" die with this century! Perhaps we need a new kind of International Justice Tribunal to try the cops, children's aid workers, state and crown prosecutors and all other manner of scoundrel who commits crimes in the name of a pay cheque! Institutions don't do things. Computers don't do things. These are human artifacts which have no agency in and of themselves. People do things. And people can also undo things. This is one of the joys -- and trials -- of being human! It is one thing to care and provide for the mentally handicapped among us. But we don't have to put them in charge of things!
